Frequently Asked Questions
How does delivery, returns and contact work?
UK delivery is free on orders over £50, with a flat rate below that. Orders ship within one working day from our Cotswolds workshop, packed in recyclable materials. Returns are accepted within 30 days for a full refund, with no restocking fees. If something arrived damaged or you need help choosing, email hello@backyardbliss.co.uk and we usually reply within a few hours.
Will reconstituted cast stone survive repeated British frost cycles?
Yes. Both pieces are cement blended with crushed stone and cured to a durable finish, rated for British weather as standard. The porous surface allows freeze-and-thaw without surface cracking, and a soft lichen patina settles in over the first two wet autumns. Neither piece needs to come indoors for winter.
How big and how heavy are the two stone Buddha pieces?
The XXL Balinese Buddha Statue stands a full metre tall and weighs around forty kilos. The Extra Large Buddha Head measures 60cm and is lighter, more easily placed by two adults. Both are reconstituted cast stone in a soft mid-grey.
Where does a cast-stone Buddha look right in a UK garden?
A 60cm head sits well on a low plinth or a flat-topped boulder, or settled into low planting at the turn of a gravel path. The full-metre XXL wants a proper pad, a paving slab or poured concrete base, set in a sheltered corner beside a fern or a clump of hakonechloa rather than mid-lawn. A quiet reading suits the material more than open exposure.
How does the stone weather and patina over the years?
The mid-grey deepens over two wet autumns as moss and lichen settle into the micro-texture of the cast stone. Most owners prefer the patina to the straight-from-mould finish; the piece works as part of the planting after a couple of seasons rather than freshly placed.
How does UK delivery work for a forty-kilo stone piece?
The XXL Buddha ships on a pallet rather than as a standard parcel. We are in touch before dispatch to agree a delivery date and confirm the drop spot, so the piece arrives where you want it placed. A trolley and a second pair of hands help on delivery day. The 60cm Buddha Head ships as a standard parcel.
Do I need to seal or cover a stone Buddha over winter?
No. Reconstituted cast stone is frost-tolerant out of the box and does not need sealing. A cover would trap moisture against the surface and hold the patina back; leaving the piece out through winter is the right call. A soft brush over the face once a year is the only care needed.
