Frequently Asked Questions
How does delivery, returns and contact work?
UK delivery is free on orders over £50, with a flat rate below that. Orders ship within one working day from our Cotswolds workshop, packed in recyclable materials. Returns are accepted within 30 days for a full refund, with no restocking fees. If something arrived damaged or you need help choosing, email hello@backyardbliss.co.uk and we usually reply within a few hours.
What sits in the safari collection right now?
Six pieces drawn from the wider catalogue: the Large Metal Preening Giraffe's pair, the Large Metal Giraffe 5ft single, the Gorgeous Giraffe Family Metal Set of six, the Large Preening Giraffes plus 5ft Giraffe three-piece grouping, the Sitting Lion in stone-effect cast resin and the Tiger Cub. As more African and savannah subjects roll into stock the hub will grow.
How is a safari piece different from a generic animal ornament?
Subject and finish register. Safari pieces lean on African and savannah animals (giraffes, lions, tigers, elephants where carried) cast or welded in finishes that work against open lawn or gravel rather than tucked into a herbaceous border. Generic animal pieces span British farmyard and woodland too. For the elephants, see elephant collection; for life-size Kenyan-workshop welded pieces, Kenyan sculptures.
How much space does a safari grouping actually need?
The giraffes carry most of the space requirement. Allow three to four metres of clear ground around the 5ft pieces and the Family Set of six so the long-neck silhouettes read against open sky rather than into mid-height planting. The Sitting Lion and the Tiger Cub are happy at closer placement, on a gravel pad or in a sheltered courtyard corner. A small back garden suits one or two pieces rather than the full hub.
Will all six pieces survive a wet British winter outdoors?
Yes. The welded metal giraffes carry a sealed steel surface that deepens into a settled patina across the first two wet autumns. The Sitting Lion is frost-proof cast resin with UV-rated stone-effect paint. The Tiger Cub is painted resin, also frost-rated. None of the pieces need to come indoors for winter. A soft cloth wipe-down once a year is the only care.
Can I mix safari with non-African animal pieces?
Yes. A 5ft welded giraffe against open lawn pairs cleanly with a Sitting Lion at a porch corner and a few woodland animals at the planting edge. The savannah subject is the anchor, the woodland pieces fill in the smaller scale. Avoid clustering everything in one corner, the safari pieces want distance and the smaller animals want close encounter.
How do you ship the larger safari pieces?
The 5ft and three-piece giraffe groupings ship on a pallet rather than as a standard parcel. We are in touch before dispatch to agree a delivery date and confirm a drop spot. The Sitting Lion, the Tiger Cub and the Family Set ship as parcelled items or palletised depending on the order size. For Kenyan-workshop life-size pieces beyond this hub, see Kenyan sculptures.
