The Garden Stone Chinese Dragon 3pc Statue is reconstituted cast stone: three pieces arranged as one long body, designed to flank a stepped entrance, heavy enough that two adults make the delivery lift easier. The Sleeping Dragon is cast resin: a single lying-dragon piece, lighter, painted, suited to a lawn-end corner or a wide planted border. Different weight, different placement, both lying-pose dragons.

Yes, that is its element. The reconstituted cast stone is frost-proof and handles freeze-thaw on a flat paving pad without cracking. Over the first damp autumn the surface picks up the soft lichen patina that suits a guardian dragon shape, and over a couple of winters the segmenting fills with a thin green-grey film that deepens the shadow lines. Stiff brush once a year, no power wash.

Flanking a stepped entrance is the classic placement: the three segments arranged in a line along one side of the steps so the body reads from head to tail as a visitor climbs. Second-best is the front edge of a wide planting bed, the dragon laid along the bed-edge with planting closing around the body. The piece wants five or six paces of approach to land.

Smaller than the Chinese Dragon 3pc Statue and cast in resin rather than stone, but still a substantial lying-dragon piece. He suits a lawn-end corner, the foot of a stepped path or a wide gravel border where the curled body reads from across the garden. Lighter to lift than the carved-stone piece, easier to reposition in the first season as you find the right corner.

Not noticeably. UV-stable paint holds the bronze or green-grey field colour through several seasons of outdoor sun. A soft brush over the painted detail once a year clears pollen and windblown debris from the wing-and-scale carving. Skip the power wash, the painted resin is softer than reconstituted stone and a high-pressure jet strips the detail.

Both ranges sit in the carved-stone guardian role at a gatepost or front step, but the face is different. The dragons here have the segmented scaled body of a Chinese guardian piece. The stone moai garden ornaments are the level-gazed Easter Island head shape, suited to a modernist front or a Japanese-leaning planting. Same role, different cultural reference.

A flat paving slab or a settled stone pad for each of the three segments. Bare turf is the spot to avoid, the weight settles unevenly through a wet winter and the body line breaks. A line of three paving slabs along the side of a stepped entrance, or a settled gravel pad along the front of a planting bed, both hold the pieces level for years.
