Frequently Asked Questions
How does delivery, returns and contact work?
UK delivery is free on orders over £50, with a flat rate below that. Orders ship within one working day from our Cotswolds workshop, packed in recyclable materials. Returns are accepted within 30 days for a full refund, with no restocking fees. If something arrived damaged or you need help choosing, email hello@backyardbliss.co.uk and we usually reply within a few hours.
Which penguin pair is bigger?
The Emperor Penguin's is the larger pair, more upright and statelier, suited to a wider gravel bed or a porch corner where you want more presence. The Perky Penguins is the mid-size pair, brighter in stance with a slight head tilt, suited to a flagstone path or a clipped box border. The Mini Penguins Ornaments is the small cluster, for a pot rim or a step edge.
Can a penguin pair sit outside through winter?
Yes. All three pieces are cast resin and frost-proof, painted in UV-stable black-white-orange colour that holds through a January freeze and a July heatwave without cracking. No winter storage needed. The white painted areas show green algae if the piece sits in sodden mulch all winter, so a flagstone underneath helps the surface stay clean.
Will the orange beak fade in summer sun?
Not appreciably. The painted finish is UV-stable across all three pieces, so the orange holds its brightness through several outdoor seasons. You might see a very slight softening of the colour over years rather than seasons. A soft brush twice a year keeps pollen and lichen from dulling the painted surface.
Where should I place the Mini Penguins Ornaments?
Closer to the eye than the larger pairs: on a pot rim, a step edge, a windowsill or a flagstone right at the doorstep. The piece looks like a small huddle rather than a single statue, so the close-pass placement is what makes the grouping work. Skip the open lawn or a wide gravel bed where the small scale gets lost.
Are these graphic shapes or realistic?
Graphic. All three pieces are stylised rather than anatomically precise, painted in clean blocks of black, white and orange that read as penguins from three or four paces. The appeal is the silhouette and the colour contrast against a quieter background. If you want a softer, more realistic finish, the bird ranges (kingfisher, dove, robins) sit closer to that.
How do these pair with other bird ranges?
The penguins sit cleanly alongside the brighter graphic bird pieces. The Colourful Kingfisher in metal bird garden ornaments picks up the same bright-colour-against-green logic. The Radiant Robins pair gives a smaller close-pass equivalent. For every bird piece we carry, browse birds; for the working pond-side feeders and baths, bird feeders and baths.
