Frequently Asked Questions
How does delivery, returns and contact work?
UK delivery is free on orders over £50, with a flat rate below that. Orders ship within one working day from our Cotswolds workshop, packed in recyclable materials. Returns are accepted within 30 days for a full refund, with no restocking fees. If something arrived damaged or you need help choosing, email hello@backyardbliss.co.uk and we usually reply within a few hours.
How does the 3-piece Chinese Dragon work in placement?
The three sections (head, body and tail) sit separately rather than as one fused figure. That means you can set them along a low wall, around a curved planted bed, or trailing through a gravel path so the dragon winds through the garden. A metre between sections looks like a flowing creature; closer than half a metre and the pieces stack visually. Point the head along the natural sight line of the path so the eye follows the body and tail away from it.
Is the Chinese Dragon real stone or a cast material?
The piece is cast (reconstituted stone, cement blended with crushed stone and cured to a durable finish) rather than solid carved stone. Cast stone weathers into a soft lichen patina over the first two wet autumns, which most owners prefer to the freshly-cast look because the dragon settles into the planting. Cast stone is also rated for British weather as standard without sealing or covering.
Where does the Sleeping Dragon look right?
A shaded planted corner suits the Sleeping Dragon best: under a fern, the base of a yew, alongside a stone wall where the curled wings tuck against vertical foliage. The mood is gentler than the Chinese Dragon, more a resting creature than a guardian, so it works deeper in the planting where it sits as a quiet discovery rather than as the headline piece.
Can I place both dragons in the same garden?
Yes, with separate spots. Group the three-piece Chinese Dragon along a path or low wall as the headline piece, and tuck the Sleeping Dragon into a shaded planted corner further into the garden. The two work as different moods (winding guardian versus resting creature) rather than as competing pieces, and the contrast works if the spots have planting between them rather than direct sight lines.
Are the pieces heavy enough to stay put in British wind?
Yes. The cast-stone weight keeps both pieces planted on a flat pad without pegging. Once positioned, neither moves in normal British wind. Two adults can comfortably position each section of the Chinese Dragon by hand without lifting gear, and the Sleeping Dragon is light enough for two adults to lift in one go.
How do dragons sit alongside fairy or gargoyle pieces?
The mythical pieces share a register without crowding each other. A dragon along a stone path, a fairy on a windowsill, a gargoyle on a gatepost: three different moods in three different spots of the same garden. The fairy garden range carries fairy pieces, and the gargoyle garden ornaments range carries gothic figures.
