Frequently Asked Questions
How does delivery, returns and contact work?
UK delivery is free on orders over £50, with a flat rate below that. Orders ship within one working day from our Cotswolds workshop, packed in recyclable materials. Returns are accepted within 30 days for a full refund, with no restocking fees. If something arrived damaged or you need help choosing, email hello@backyardbliss.co.uk and we usually reply within a few hours.
How big is the Giant Snail?
38cm nose-to-tail, with the spiralled shell raised above the body. The same piece is gathered in both the snail range and the large-snail range. Close-approach piece, designed to be seen at a step or two away but with a shell pattern that reads from further back too. Full dimensions and current price are on the product page.
Is the colouring accurate to a real garden snail?
Yes. The shell carries the banded pattern of a common garden snail, a creamy ground with darker brown bands following the spiral. The body is a soft grey-brown that recedes against soil and brings the shell forward. Painted in UV-stable colour that holds through several seasons.
Where in a UK garden does it look best?
A damp shaded hosta corner is the classic placement, the body half-tucked under the broad leaves. The foot of a pot cluster on a flagstone is the second spot. A few paces back from a stone-edged pond, in damp soil rather than on the coping, is the third. The pose calls for shade and damp; open south-facing gravel is the spot to avoid.
Will it survive a British winter outdoors?
Yes. Cast resin throughout, frost-proof, with UV-stable painted detail. A wet January and a dry July are both within the spec. It does not need winter storage. If the spot is genuinely sodden for weeks, lifting the piece onto a flat tile for a few days helps the underside dry, but that is rare in a normal British winter.
How heavy is the Giant Snail and is one person enough?
Liftable for one adult. The cast-resin body has the heft to sit in damp soil without sliding, but it is not a two-person lift. For a permanent placement, settle the body into the soil by a centimetre or two and it stays put through wind and winter.
What pairs well with the snail?
A frog from the frog garden ornaments range on a nearby pond rim. A tortoise from the tortoises and snails hub on a sun-warmed flagstone a couple of paces away gives a contrasting basking pose. Two snails in the same border read busy; one is plenty.
