About Peacock Garden Ornaments & Statues

Peacock Garden Ornaments: Bright-Bird Pieces for a Formal Garden

Peacock garden ornaments at Backyard Bliss gathers the bright-bird pieces that suit the kind of garden a peacock would actually walk through: a clipped lawn with stone-edged borders, a formal gravel terrace, the foot of a yew hedge. A dedicated fanned-tail peacock piece is not in stock right now, the five pieces in the range are the bright-bird shapes we carry: the Colourful Kingfisher, the Grey Dove Planter, the Bird in Hands Birdbath, the Radiant Robins and the Fairy on Bird.

Bright bird shapes for a formal scheme

A formal garden reads well with clear-coloured bird shapes rather than fussy painted detail. The Colourful Kingfisher is the brightest piece in the range: a perching stake piece in brilliant blue and orange that sits at the front of a clipped border and pulls the eye. The Radiant Robins are the close-pass pair, sized for a pot rim or a stone step at the edge of a terrace, the bright red breast reading clean against pale gravel. The Grey Dove Planter softens a formal corner with a calmer grey silhouette and a shallow hollow for a low-rooted alpine.

The Birdbath as the working focal point

The Bird in Hands Birdbath is the natural focal point of a formal corner: a sculptural pair of cupped hands cast in stone-effect resin, a shallow basin that real garden birds will visit and drink at. Sized for a flat paving pad three or four paces from a yew or box hedge so the visiting birds have cover to flit to. The Fairy on Bird is the smallest piece, a bronze-effect detail for a windowsill, a potting-bench top or beside a bay tree in a glazed pot.

Where the pieces sit in a formal garden

A formal lawn, a stone-edged terrace and a clipped hedge are the kinds of surroundings the pieces here were chosen for. The Kingfisher staked at the front of a clipped lavender row catches afternoon sun. The Birdbath on a flat pad at the centre of a quartet of clipped box balls holds the spot as a deliberate focal point rather than a piece dropped on grass. The Robins on a tall terracotta pot at the corner of a paving square work as close-pass detail. The Grey Dove Planter at the foot of a yew softens a stiff corner with planted greenery in the shallow hollow.

Cast resin and a wet British year

All five pieces are cast resin, frost-proof, with weather-fast painted finishes. They hold colour through several seasons without fading and handle freeze-thaw on damp paving without cracking. The Kingfisher's blue and the Robins' red benefit most from a soft brush once a year to clear pollen. The Birdbath's basin wants emptying before a hard frost so standing water does not freeze and lift the rim. The Fairy on Bird holds colour longer if it is lifted off sodden mulch through deep winter onto a flat tile.

For the silhouette and metal-finish groupings of the same pieces, see modern bird garden ornaments and metal bird garden ornaments. For single-bird shapes nearby, the robin and owl ranges. For the working pieces real birds use, bird feeders and baths. For every bird piece we carry, birds.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does delivery, returns and contact work?

UK delivery is free on orders over £50, with a flat rate below that. Orders ship within one working day from our Cotswolds workshop, packed in recyclable materials. Returns are accepted within 30 days for a full refund, with no restocking fees. If something arrived damaged or you need help choosing, email hello@backyardbliss.co.uk and we usually reply within a few hours.

Do you carry a fanned-tail peacock statue?

Not in this range at the moment. A fanned-tail peacock in metalwork is a piece we have carried seasonally and may again, the lead-times on the better metal pieces are long and they come and go. The five pieces in the current range are the bright-bird shapes that suit the same formal garden a peacock walks through. Drop us a line through the contact form if you want a true peacock piece specifically and we can flag when one is back in.

Which piece holds a formal corner best?

The Bird in Hands Birdbath. Sculptural enough to stand as a focal point at the centre of a clipped quartet, useful enough that real birds visit and drink at it. Place it on a flat paving pad three or four paces from a yew or box hedge so visiting birds have cover. The Colourful Kingfisher on a stake is the secondary focal point at the front edge of a clipped border.

Will the bright colours fade in full sun?

Not noticeably. The paint is UV-stable, designed to hold the blue of the Kingfisher, the red of the Robins and the grey of the Dove through several British summers without fading. The Robins and the Kingfisher are the two pieces that pick up pollen across the year, so a soft brush once or twice across the painted detail keeps the colour saturated.

How well does the Grey Dove Planter sit in a formal scheme?

Very well. The soft grey sits as a calmer counterpart to the brighter pieces, and the rounded dove silhouette softens a stiff clipped corner without breaking the formality. Plant the shallow hollow with a creeping sedum or a clump of moss, something low-rooted that drapes over the edge rather than reaching upward.

Can the Birdbath stay out through a British winter?

Yes. Cast resin, frost-proof, with paint built for freeze-thaw on damp paving. The basin wants emptying before a hard frost so standing water does not lift the painted rim, that is the only piece of winter prep needed. Otherwise the bath sits on its pad year-round, hosting visiting birds in shoulder seasons and waiting through the coldest weeks.

How does this compare with the strict bird ranges?

The single-bird ranges gather a single bird shape each. The robin and owl ranges each carry their own bird. The metal bird garden ornaments and modern bird garden ornaments groupings carry the same five pieces as this one, framed by finish and silhouette. For every bird piece we stock, browse birds.
