About Moai Garden Ornaments & Statues

Faces and Heads Garden Statues: Buddha, Easter Island, Pharoah and Bali

Faces and heads at Backyard Bliss is the head-and-figure range, sculptural heads from across cultures sized for a gravel-path end, a courtyard centre or a planted corner. Five pieces in the run: the XXL Balinese Buddha Statue, the Extra Large Buddha Head, the Pharoah Head Statue, the Easter Island Head Statue and the Bali-Inspired Full Face Set. Cast stone for the heavier anchors, cast resin with painted finishes for the lighter pieces, all built for British weather.

The Buddha heads

The XXL Balinese Buddha Statue is the heaviest anchor in the range, a one-metre cast-stone Buddha sized for a gravel-path end or a courtyard centre. The pose is settled, the hands resting at the lap, the face calm. The Extra Large Buddha Head is the head-only piece, the same Balinese carving tradition at a smaller scale, sized for a planted corner or the wide top of a stone-edged raised bed. The Bali-Inspired Full Face Set is the smaller grouping, two or three Bali-style faces in a coordinated finish for a sheltered courtyard corner.

The Easter Island and Pharoah pieces

The Easter Island Head Statue is the 38cm moai-style piece, a stylised long-faced head in cast stone with a charcoal weathered finish. It reads strongest against pale gravel or a whitewashed wall where the dark silhouette pulls the eye. The Pharoah Head Statue is the Egyptian-styled piece, a stylised pharoah head with the headdress, painted in soft sandstone tones that suit a planted corner against a brick wall. Both are sized for a flat surface at least 25cm across without overhang.

Where head pieces sit best

A head piece anchors a corner rather than sitting in a busy planting scheme. The XXL Balinese Buddha wants a gravel-path end or a paved courtyard centre with a metre of clear space around it. The Easter Island Head reads strongest against pale gravel where the dark silhouette stands out. The Pharoah Head sits well against red brick where the warm sandstone painted finish echoes the surroundings. The Bali Face Set works as a sheltered grouping in a covered courtyard corner. Avoid placing a head piece in front of a dark hedge or dark fencing where the silhouette disappears.

Cast stone, cast resin and a wet British year

The cast-stone Buddha pieces and the Easter Island Head are bound with anti-crack chemicals so they handle freeze-thaw without splitting. A lichen patina builds over a couple of winters. The Pharoah Head and the Bali Face Set are cast resin with painted finishes, UV-stable and frost-proof, holding colour through several seasons. Tip standing water off Buddha laps and moai eye sockets before a hard frost.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does delivery, returns and contact work?

UK delivery is free on orders over £50, with a flat rate below that. Orders ship within one working day from our Cotswolds workshop, packed in recyclable materials. Returns are accepted within 30 days for a full refund, with no restocking fees. If something arrived damaged or you need help choosing, email hello@backyardbliss.co.uk and we usually reply within a few hours.

Which head piece is the headline anchor?

The XXL Balinese Buddha Statue: a one-metre cast-stone Buddha at around 40 kilos, sized for a gravel-path end or a courtyard centre with a clear sight line. The Extra Large Buddha Head is the head-only piece at smaller scale, easier to place in a smaller back garden. The Easter Island Head is the unusual piece at 38cm tall, sized for a wide flat surface against pale gravel.

Are the cast-stone pieces frost-proof?

Yes. Reconstituted cast stone is bound with anti-crack chemicals so the pieces handle freeze-thaw on damp paving without cracking. Tip standing water off Buddha laps and moai eye sockets before a hard frost. The lichen patina that builds over a couple of winters softens the freshly-cast look into a more uniform weathered tone. None of the pieces need winter storage.

Where does the Easter Island Head sit best?

Against pale gravel or a whitewashed wall where the dark charcoal silhouette pulls the eye to the focal corner. A wide flat surface at least 25cm across so the head does not overhang, a paving square or a low stone wall top suits well. Avoid placing it against a dark hedge or dark fencing where the silhouette drops out.

What is the Bali-Inspired Full Face Set?

A coordinated grouping of two or three Bali-style faces in a matching finish, sized for a sheltered courtyard corner rather than open lawn. The set reads as one piece across a wall or a flagstone edge. The painted finish holds colour longer when the pieces sit out of the worst weather, so a covered or partly-covered placement extends the finish considerably.

How heavy is the XXL Balinese Buddha?

Around 40 kilos at one metre tall. A trolley helps on delivery day. Once placed, two adults can usually reposition it on a flat pad without lifting gear, but settle the sight line before committing because moving it more than once a year is hard work. Full dimensions and current price are on the product page.

Will the painted finishes hold colour through British weather?

Yes. The pigment is UV-stable, designed to hold the warm sandstone tones on the Pharoah and the Bali Face Set through several British summers without fading. The cast-stone pieces hold colour better still because the colour is in the material rather than on the surface. A soft brush across painted detail once a year clears pollen and keeps colour saturated.

How does this range relate to the dedicated Buddha and moai ranges?

The faces-and-heads range gathers head-only pieces across cultures (Buddha, moai, Pharoah, Bali). The dedicated balinese buddha, stone buddha and extra large buddha ranges gather the Buddha pieces specifically. The stone moai and large moai ranges gather the moai pieces. Use this range for the breadth, the dedicated ranges for the depth.
