Frequently Asked Questions
How does delivery, returns and contact work?
UK delivery is free on orders over £50, with a flat rate below that. Orders ship within one working day from our Cotswolds workshop, packed in recyclable materials. Returns are accepted within 30 days for a full refund, with no restocking fees. If something arrived damaged or you need help choosing, email hello@backyardbliss.co.uk and we usually reply within a few hours.
Is the Bronze Bear w/Cub actually solid bronze?
No. The finish is a weathered-bronze paint on cast resin, not a solid bronze casting. You get the look of bronze patina at a fraction of the weight, without the cost of solid bronze and without the theft worry. The paint is UV-stable and holds colour through several seasons. Up close you see the painted surface; from a few paces back the eye reads bronze.
What is the Mother Bear and Cub made from?
Reconstituted cast stone, bound with anti-crack chemicals so the piece handles freeze-thaw on damp paving without cracking. The finish weathers into a softer lichen patina over a couple of winters, which most owners come to prefer to the freshly-cast look. Heavier than the resin piece, which means it sits flat on a planted-corner pad without budging.
Where does the Wall Mounted Bear Head fix best?
Vertical timber or stone at head height, under at least partial cover: a shed gable, a stable beam, the inside wall of a covered porch, an outbuilding wall facing onto a courtyard. The carving holds up better when it is not sitting in direct rain run-off, so a sheltered position rather than an exposed fence panel suits it. The fixing is a simple wall-mount on the back.
Will these bear pieces sit out through a British winter?
Yes. The Bronze Bear w/Cub is cast resin, frost-proof, painted in UV-stable colour. The Mother Bear and Cub is cast stone, heavier and built for freeze-thaw. The Wall Mounted Head holds up best under partial cover. Tip standing water off any horizontal surface before a hard frost. None of the three need winter storage.
Are there matching bear cub pieces elsewhere in the catalogue?
Both bear pieces here already include the cub. We do not stock a single-cub piece separately. For other mother-and-cub safari groups, the gorilla garden ornaments range carries the Gorilla & Gorilla w/Cub and the Life-Size Gorilla with Baby, and the elephant collection carries similar elephant family pieces.
How does the bear range fit alongside the wider animal catalogue?
Bears here are a tight three-piece grouping rather than a deep range. They sit alongside the bigger safari ranges (gorillas, elephants, big cats) as a quieter wooded-corner alternative. The Wall Mounted Bear Head is the unusual piece in that group, the kind a stable owner or a workshop fitter picks. Browse the wider animal garden statues and ornaments range for the full picture.
