White Gnome Garden Ornaments: Pale Paintwork That Lifts a Shaded Corner
Frequently Asked Questions
How does delivery, returns and contact work?
UK delivery is free on orders over £50, with a flat rate below that. Orders ship within one working day from our Cotswolds workshop, packed in recyclable materials. Returns are accepted within 30 days for a full refund, with no restocking fees. If something arrived damaged or you need help choosing, email hello@backyardbliss.co.uk and we usually reply within a few hours.
Are these gnomes actually frost-proof through a British winter?
Yes. Each piece is cast resin with a UV-stable paint finish. They're built for British winters and stay out through wet Januarys and named-storm gales without cracking or fading. A rinse each spring is all the care they need. To make the pale paint last longer, lift them onto a flat pad rather than leaving them on soft ground that puddles in deep winter.
Will the white paint yellow under UV?
No. The painted finish is UV-stabilised, which is what stops the pale tones drifting yellow over a couple of summers (the failure mode you'd see on cheap white paint). Expect the figure to look the same shade of pale after three seasons as it did the day it arrived.
How do I keep a pale-painted gnome looking clean?
A soft brush and warm water once or twice a year, which gets pollen and the lighter coat of garden dust out of the painted detail. Skip the pressure washer (it lifts the sealed finish faster than dirt would ever obscure the colour). Lift the base off sodden mulch in deep winter so brown leaf-mould wash doesn't creep up the lower edges.
Why pale paint rather than bright colours?
Two reasons. Placement: a pale gnome lifts a shaded corner in a way a bright-painted one can't, because the lighter palette reads against shadow rather than disappearing into it. Style: the soft palette sits cleanly with a planted garden where bright primary colours can feel out of register. The traditional gnomes cut covers the bright-paint side of the same range.
What sizes are in the white cut?
The Grow Old With Me couple is 25cm tall and 20cm wide. The Naughty Gnomes pair and both Biker pieces stand at 22cm. The Three Cheeky Gnomes reach 30cm. The Watering Gnome and Joyful Gnome pair are the tallest at 38cm. The Jolly Donsy of Gnomes is a set of six smaller figures, each with their own tools and face.
How does this compare with the ceramic-finish cut?
The ceramic gnomes cut uses a ceramic-look painted finish (slight glazed surface) on the same cast-resin bodies. The white cut here uses a pale flat-paint finish for a softer matte register. Both lift a shaded corner; ceramic adds the glaze sheen, white keeps a quieter painted surface. Full catalogue: all gnomes.
