Planter Garden Ornaments & Statues
Pots and planters at Backyard Bliss is a one-piece range right now: the Grey Dove Planter, the only ornament-as-planter shape we currently carry. A soft-grey dove cast in resin with a shallow hollow at the back, shaped to hold a small planting of trailing sedum, a creeping thyme or a tuft of moss.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does delivery, returns and contact work?
UK delivery is free on orders over £50, with a flat rate below that. Orders ship within one working day from our Cotswolds workshop, packed in recyclable materials. Returns are accepted within 30 days for a full refund, with no restocking fees. If something arrived damaged or you need help choosing, email hello@backyardbliss.co.uk and we usually reply within a few hours.
Is the Grey Dove the only planter you carry?
Yes. The Grey Dove Planter is the only ornament-as-planter shape in the catalogue. We are honest about that rather than padding the range. We do not stock traditional terracotta pots or large containers; this is a sculptural planter, where the dove shape is the piece and the planting is a small accent at the back hollow.
How deep is the planting hollow?
Shallow rather than deep, sized for low-rooted plants. A trailing sedum, creeping thyme, sempervivum, or a tuft of moss all suit it; deeper-rooted plants like lavender, rosemary or larger ornamental grasses do not, the hollow does not hold the rootball. A bit of free-draining compost in the hollow gives the planting enough to hold moisture without waterlogging.
Can I leave the planted dove outside in winter?
Yes. The cast-resin construction is frost-proof and the painted grey finish holds through a wet January and a July heatwave without cracking. The planting in the hollow copes well through winter; the only care needed is tipping any excess standing water out before a hard frost so the hollow does not freeze with a pool of ice inside.
What does it pair well with in the border?
Quieter planting and bird-themed pieces. A clipped box or fern bed sets off the grey nicely. For paired bird ornaments, the Colourful Kingfisher (a few paces away at the front of a damp border) or the Radiant Robins (closer in, on a pot rim) both sit well with the dove. The Bird in Hands Birdbath as a working piece across the planting completes a bird-themed corner.
How heavy is it?
Heavy enough to sit on its own without pegging, light enough to lift and reposition when the planting changes. Cast resin throughout. Exact weight and dimensions are on the product page along with current price. The planted weight (with compost and a small sedum) is only marginally higher; you can still move it season to season.
Where else does this piece appear in the catalogue?
The Grey Dove Planter also sits in the bird-themed ranges. See metal bird garden ornaments where it appears as a bird shape rather than a planter, and birds for the wider bird-piece catalogue. Different lens, same piece.
