Frequently Asked Questions
How does delivery, returns and contact work?
UK delivery is free on orders over £50, with a flat rate below that. Orders ship within one working day from our Cotswolds workshop, packed in recyclable materials. Returns are accepted within 30 days for a full refund, with no restocking fees. If something arrived damaged or you need help choosing, email hello@backyardbliss.co.uk and we usually reply within a few hours.
Are these solid bronze, or a painted finish on something lighter?
Painted finish on cast resin, not solid metal. That's the sensible choice for a British garden. You get the weathered-metal look without the weight, cost or theft worry of real bronze. A 38cm pair at around 3kg each is light enough to move one-handed when you want a different spot. The pigment is mixed through the paint, so tonal depth holds through several seasons rather than chalking in one wet winter.
Will the bronze tone fade after a couple of wet seasons?
It holds well. Pigment mixed through the layer weathers slowly and evenly rather than patchily. After two or three years you may notice the bronze-effect reading a shade warmer, and the verdigris softening toward a more muted green. Most gardeners prefer that to the factory-clean look. A damp cloth with warm water twice a year is the whole care routine.
Is the upward-tilted pose actually readable from across the garden?
Yes. The arched-neck, ears-laid-flat shape is the strongest long-distance hare pose. The raised nose and the line from shoulder to ear catch the sky behind, so the pair carries from four or five metres away. A seated figure would disappear into the planting at that range. Place the pair with open sky or a clear backdrop rather than a busy shrub.
Can the hares stay outdoors through a hard frost?
Yes. The cast resin is rated for British weather. Frost-thaw cycles, named-storm gales and long wet spells don't split the body. One useful winter habit helps: lift each piece briefly off saturated mulch in autumn and rest it on a flat paver. Damp won't wick up into the base. Otherwise the hares are happy outdoors year-round.
Which size suits a smaller garden, porch or balcony?
The 23cm Medium Bronze pair is the easier fit for a porch step, a windowsill, a balcony corner or a small courtyard. In those spots the Large pairs at 38cm and 36cm look oversized. The Large Graphite and Verdigris pairs want a longer sightline (a gravel path, the back of a mixed border, or either side of a bench in a bigger garden).
